When it means something.

The irony: Some people say that grades mean nothing. Some people have obviously never been hungry. They also say grades mean nothing, and yet they get angry when foreign students get scholarships in our local institutions. Some say grades mean nothing, and they get angry when they go to public hospitals and are being treated by foreign doctors and nurses. Some say grades mean nothing, yet they get angry when top jobs go to others and not them. Some say grades mean nothing because some have $ in their banks from their parents or grandparents. For some, grades means something because it offers a scholarship for higher education that can possibly bring their families out of poverty. One can sweep in one’s own house, but one should not sweep the entire population with one’s myopia. Grades do mean something, especially for the have-nots. Not everyone enjoys the crutch.
